About the trip
Senja Island is like the paw of a mythical twelve-legged cat. Each "finger" is a rock massif with hiking trails - they are the purpose of our trip.
We will ascend to the tops of the mountains of the western part of the island, from which the incredible panoramas of the island and the Atlantic Ocean are opened, and then we will pass the trails of the national park of Ånderdalen. This park preserves the nature of the polar forest, some pines here for are 500 years old and are a home to deer.
Finally, we will visit another park, this time a magical one – the Troll Park, where the 18-meter-tall Troll lives, listed in the Guinness World Records as the largest Troll in the world.
The program
day 1
Departure from Lviv by a minibus at 5 am from the train station.
day 2-3
Ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki and road to polar Finland.
The next day, arrival to Senja Island.
day 4-11
We will climb the most beautiful peaks, namely the following:
- Baren (659 meters);
- Kvænan (961 meters);
- Husfjellet (635 meters);
- Hesten (556 meters);
- Inste Kongen (738 meters);
- Grytetippen (885 meters);
- Keipen (938 meters);
- Segla (640 meters);
- Astritind (742 meters);
- Lonketind (850 meters).
We will hike to Ånderdalen National Park and visit the Troll Museum (Senjatrollet).
We will visit observation platforms above the village of Bergsbotn and Tungeneset, also called the staircase into the ocean with unbeatable mountain views known as the "Teeth of the Dragon" (though a literal translation from the Norwegian is "Bull Horns").
day 12
Departure home. On the way, overnight stay in polar Finland.
day 13
Road home, free time in Helsinki.
At the end of the day, the Helsinki - Tallinn ferry.
Overnight stay at a sports campsite near Pärnu (Estonia).
day 14
Road through Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. Arrival to Lviv ca midnight.
Arrival time depends on the speed of border crossing.
Due to weather conditions and other circumstances, minor changes to the program are possible.
Included
The price includes:
- Transportation costs throughout the entire route, travel by minibus from Lviv;
- Ticket for ferry across the Baltic Sea both ways;
- 7 nights in a camping in a tent, the other nights outdoors in a tent;
- The burner and gas, as well as the use of common kitchen equipment. We will cook all meals collectively, your participation is expected
- Medical first aid kit for the group
- Professional guide for all hikes and treks
- Consultations for the trip, personal equipment, insurance, etc
The price doesn’t include:
- Meals (about 50 euros per person for the whole trip, personal meals are possible if desired);
- Visa fees for those who do not have a biometric passport or those who need it;
- Shower in campsites, as well as the use of washing and drying machines; Estimated prices (shower 4-5 minutes = 10 kroons, this is just over 1 euro, use of a washing and drying machine 30-50 kroons each, 1 euro is approximately 9 kroons;
- admission tickets of Senjatrollet.
